This Afternoon

Today we traveled into the City to see mommy's friend, Emily Gardner, from St. Louis. But first we had to take a couple of detours as we had to show Flat Stanley around. If you are not familiar with Flat Stanley, The Flat Stanley Project was started in 1995 by Dale Hubert, a third grade schoolteacher in London, Ontario, Canada. It is meant to facilitate letter-writing by schoolchildren to each other as they document where Flat Stanley has gone with them. My friend Nate from Austin, TX asked me show Flat Stanley around New Jersey and New York, so that's exactly what we did.

We took Flat Stanley to Central Park and visited the Zoo, the carousel, Columbus Circle mall for lunch, and played at one the many parks that Central Park has to offer. We took him on the subway and visited Hoboken, NJ where Frank Sinatra was born. It was a hot day in the City but we had a great time. Here are some pictures of the afternoon we spent showing Flat Stanley around the City.

Sandman

Happy birthday to my best bud, Josh! Josh turned two on April 29th and to celebrate, his 'rents through him a big bash. My added contribution to this bash was a sandbox full of sand (more on that later)! As for the party, it was so fun. The food was awesome to say the least; plenty of appetizers to go around, an array of sorts, with cake, cookies and chocolate lollipops to finish.

As for the entertainment, the bouncy house was where it was at. The weather could not have been more perfect. We spent the entire afternoon outside playing in Josh's playhouse and riding on his toys. Josh opened all his presents and I insisted on sharing them, okay well sharing would be a kind word. I literally had to be dragged away kicking and crying as I really wanted several of his gifts. Needless to say, I can hardly wait to turn two and share my toys ;)

After all the kids departed and it was just Josh and I left to party, we headed to the sandbox. We weren't really sure what to do, so we just stood outside playing with the sand by throwing it everywhere but inside the box. After Josh made the first move by putting his foot inside, the rest was history! It was discovered that I have a little problem with sand; I think it tastes amazing. In fact, because everyone was laughing at me I thought it would be great to keep eating it. Then Josh and I decided it would be fun to throw sand at each other. Sand was everywhere, my hair, eyes, mouth, etc. Needless to say, the tune by Metallica, Sandman, was playing in the background. It got so bad that there was no way my parents were letting me get in the car without a bath.

So to cap off a great day, Josh and I shared a bubble bath. Funny thing was, by the time we finished getting all the sand out of our hair, it seemed like there was a beach on the bottom of the bathtub! Little did I know I was going to get a birthday present to...Josh gave me my PJ's that he was saving for my birthday. They are perfect as they have monkeys and bananas all over them!

Thanks for turning two Josh!
