My attempt to meet President Obama

This weekend we traveled back to Baltimore for one night, Friday, to see Evan and Corey. They live in a beautiful brownstone in downtown Baltimore with lots of space to crawl. We had lots of fun at a middle eastern resturant where I tried hummus and pita for the first time. Hummus is good with pita, but not alone...not sure about the texture. I also tried a lemon for the first time and last time! I think my face said it all. I wasn't quite sure the first time I sucked on it, but by the second time I was pretty sure there is a reason for sugar in this world.

On Saturday we got up and drove to DC. My first trip to the Nation's capital was awesome. We met up with Mike and Amy, and Brad and Andrea. We walked, and walked, and walked and walked some more. Our first stop was the White House. I was hoping for an invite to play on the $4,000 playground on the White House lawn, but no one would come to the gate when I knocked. I stuck around for a little to see if Sasha and Malia would come out and play, but the guards drew weary so I decided to stroll on to the kite festival. For such a dreary, misty day, there were several people flying very large kites. It was really neat to see the variations of obsessions for some odd characters. We then strolled over to the National Monument, then on to the War II Memorial where daddy and mommy showed me every state they lived in...that's a lot of states - I fell asleep on that tour of duty. We then went to The Mall (Reflecting Pond) and stopped off at the Korean War memorial, up to the Lincoln Monument and over to the Vietnam Vets memorial. After that we walked up to the Holocoust Musuem which was really packed, but neat.

Our day concluded with an early dinner and a trip to the brewery where the parentals engaged in some drinks and I ate me some yummy ice cream. It was finally at Union Station I was able to meet Obama...okay well he was on cardboard but I still got my picture taken with him. On our stroll home I fought every minute so I could take in this awesome city, but the back of my eyelids won out.

The next day we drove across the bridge to Old Town, Alexandria to an awesome little French bakery, Le Madeline's. I tried a crescent for the first time with raspberry jam...it was delicious. Mommy bought extra to bring home with us to enjoy with my oatmeal this week. The sun finally made an appearance so we walked around the town enjoying the cherry blossoms and spring weather.

After a long drive home with traffic it was nice to get back to my crib and see my kitty...home sweet home! Maybe next time Obama, you'll be lucky enough to meet me.

A visit to the park

What a beautiful day it was. I enjoyed a leisurely scroll with my babysitter today. When my parental units arrived home, I had the liberty of going to the park for the very first time. Although the swings were a little big for me, I enjoyed swinging back and forth. I even chuckled a few times. I then tested out the slide, not the biggest fan but I think it will grow on me. The best part was just being outside in 70 degree weather.

We then went to Babies R Us and my parents bought me a swing for the backyard. Not sure where they're going to put it, but hoping they'll figure something out.

I've got teeth their multiplying

My two bottom front teeth are coming through. I'm rather shy about it as I won't let anyone see them unless your feeding me. It's been a rather unpleasant experience and I can't believe I have 18 more of these things to grow. Hopefully I get my mother's teeth and she didn't have to have braces and dad did.

The side effects are mininal but most noticed at night. I can't sleep; my parents put this gel stuff on my teeth that numbs my mouth and makes me talk, look and feel funny. I drool like crazy and chew on anything that enters my sight. I tried teething biscuits but when found out i'm not supposed to eat them, just chew on them, I gave up on those. Teething rings only work so well as I want to bang them on everything rather then chew on them.

Once I decide that i'm ready to show these off to the world, i'll let my parents snap a picture and post them. Stay tuned...it should anytime now.

Daycare Drama

So two weeks ago my favorite teacher, Ms. Latoya left my daycare center. It was a very sad day for me because I thought I was never going to see her again. But then my mommy got smart and emailed her to find out if she would babysit for me occasionally on the weekends. She agreed and since then I have seen her twice.

Then I got bit again by that same little brat, Josie. After that my parents met with the Director and my head teacher, and nothing was really resolved. In fact I think it made things worse as my mommy and daddy kept calling my head teacher a moron.

Soon thereafter, it was discovered by my parents that I was being set on the floor when I was spitting up a lot so I wouldn't get my teachers clothes dirty. I was also being left in my crib longer than what I was sleeping. This was the last straw.

So adventures in daycare began. Mommy got our deposit back on Monday. I was told my last day at this school would be Friday. Wednesday was full of daycare tours. I met two head teachers and we decided after a long process that I wanted to learn spanish, sign language and plant flowers during the summer at Goddard in Old Bridge, NJ.

So I start at Goddard tomorrow. Although i'll miss my friends and some of the teachers, I'm looking forward to making new friends and only having two teachers at my new school. Stay tuned to see what i'm learning and developing.

Adventures to snowland a/k/a Vermont

I headed to Vermont over President's Day weekend and boy what an adventure it was. We were supposed to fly, leaving Thursday night. But as the week dragged on the weatherman kept saying that there would be high winds. Well everyone says the weatherman lies, he actually got paid to tell the truth that day. So we set out for the airport around 7 pm and arrived to find that we were delayed until 10 pm. The time kept getting pushed back and I just couldn't sleep. Around midnight, my parents learned of the plane crash which left from the same terminal as I was screaming and entertaining those around me. Even more odd was the fact that we were on the same type of plane as the one that crashed. Eventually, we began to see staff and flight crew arrive around our terminal. We later learned that the flight crew was based in Newark and all of our flight crew knew the flight crew that parished. Therefore, Continental cancelled our flight due to the emotional instability of our flight crew. So after waiting until 2 am, my parents decided we would just drive.

We finally got on the road at 3 am and I finally went to sleep. This was the first time I actually slept in much to my parents demise as they would just like me to sleep in once on the weekends, or until at least 7:30. My motto - no rest for the weary. If there is something to be had, then I must be there to witness it.

We arrived in VT around 10 am and had a day of sleep and relaxation with the grand parentals. The weekend was nice as my grandparents watched me on Sunday night so my parents could go to dinner.

The drive back on Monday was long but I slept most of the way. We then headed into the City (my first time ever) to meet Jenny who came for fashion week. We finally got home at 7 pm. It was a long weekend, but a good one.
