I headed to Vermont over President's Day weekend and boy what an adventure it was. We were supposed to fly, leaving Thursday night. But as the week dragged on the weatherman kept saying that there would be high winds. Well everyone says the weatherman lies, he actually got paid to tell the truth that day. So we set out for the airport around 7 pm and arrived to find that we were delayed until 10 pm. The time kept getting pushed back and I just couldn't sleep. Around midnight, my parents learned of the plane crash which left from the same terminal as I was screaming and entertaining those around me. Even more odd was the fact that we were on the same type of plane as the one that crashed. Eventually, we began to see staff and flight crew arrive around our terminal. We later learned that the flight crew was based in Newark and all of our flight crew knew the flight crew that parished. Therefore, Continental cancelled our flight due to the emotional instability of our flight crew. So after waiting until 2 am, my parents decided we would just drive.
We finally got on the road at 3 am and I finally went to sleep. This was the first time I actually slept in much to my parents demise as they would just like me to sleep in once on the weekends, or until at least 7:30. My motto - no rest for the weary. If there is something to be had, then I must be there to witness it.
We arrived in VT around 10 am and had a day of sleep and relaxation with the grand parentals. The weekend was nice as my grandparents watched me on Sunday night so my parents could go to dinner.
The drive back on Monday was long but I slept most of the way. We then headed into the City (my first time ever) to meet Jenny who came for fashion week. We finally got home at 7 pm. It was a long weekend, but a good one.
