Masterpiece
Tonight was the big reveal of what I have been working on at school for several weeks. To debut what the upcoming summer will bring, the entire school takes on a theme and creates pieces of art that signifies the theme. My class' theme was the the North Pole so all of our art centered around the ice and snow. We made big people that looked like us and had ice skates on, we made icicles, polar bears, snow globes, penguins and snow cones. Below is a some pictures of my work as well as the art that was seen throughout the school.

Born of Frustration
Dear Mom and Dad,
I believe you were mistaken when you named me Thad Jacob Basner, because you should have named me Thad “Frustration” Basner. I have entered the “Throw Down Phase” as you so fondly call it. I definitely inherited the frustration gene as I have no patience or tolerance for the smallest tasks in life. For instance, when I want something to go together, like a train track, why can’t it just go together? No it has to be difficult and not connect, causing me to launch into a major meltdown full of screaming, crying and throwing any object I can get my little hands on, can’t you relate? Another example would be when I want to go outside and I ask politely in my littlest, cutest voice, I don’t do so for entertainment. I want to go outside, and I want to go outside now. Rather, you tell me “in a minute”, whereby this causes me to throw myself on the floor kicking and screaming. If I don’t get my way this could last for a good 15 minutes all the while I continue to scream outside! And when I don’t want to come inside, I’m serious about this. Why do you make me scream at the top of my lungs to alert the neighbors that you are abusing your parental privileges by dragging me inside for dinner? Also, don’t look at me like I am absolutely crazy when out of the blue I just have a meltdown, obviously something is wrong and it’s your fault that you can’t figure out why I’m having problems. In conclusion, to prevent further occurrences from happening, you could just simply give in to my needs/demands…doesn’t that sound easy enough?
Love, Thad Frustration Basner

Hoppin' Down the Bunny Trail
OH MY! What a weekend we had and what a way to celebrate Easter. This weekend started on Friday with NO SCHOOL! You heard me right; we did not have school because of Good Friday. This allowed me to play legal hooky and head over to New Brunswick with my friend Gavin. All week my mommy kept telling me we were going to see the red monster...Elmo! By Friday I was pretty excited and could not wait. We had great seats so when the show started it I had a great view of Big Bird and Elmo talking to each other. But next thing you know, the curtain opened and I just freaked out, and not in a good way. There was a ton of monsters (life size) standing on the stage which caused me to have a brief breakdown. Actually brief would be an inadequate description. We actually had to head to the back of the theatre so that I could calm down. When we headed back up to our seats it took me a minute to realize that this was really cool. I made it through about an hour of the show before I fell asleep. After the show we went to lunch with Gavin and his mommy at Tumulty's.
On Saturday we woke up and dyed easter eggs and I got my first present, a picnic table. My parents thought I would be more excited about this but I wasn't. However it is a nice little table where I can sit and enjoy my snacks

I See Skys of Blue
It was a great day at school today. We celebrated the 30th Annual Earth Day with a big celebration. If you don't know, Earth Day was founded in 1970 and falls on April 22nd each year in America. I what you would call a "light green" environmentalist as I volunteered and made a renewed pledge to live more gently. To support our pledge, the bigger kids planted a tree on the school's property and the litter kids, me, planted a garden. Like all boys, I love to play in the dirt and this gave me the perfect opportunity to get my little hands dirty and full of dirt. I had it everywhere, ears, eyes, nose and of course under my fingernails. We even had to scrub my fingernails to get the dirt out! It was a great time, evidenced by the pictures.

Shoots and Ladders
Today we went with Josh to Kidz Village which is located in Kenilworth, NJ. This place was so neat because it has activities that stimulate my imagination, learning and social interaction. For instance, they have a supermarket where I was able to go shopping with a cart just my size. There was also a movie theatre, tool shop, and a 50’s style diner. But the best thing is the multi-level indoor playground that was a huge maze with five slides and tons of tunnels. The slides were extremely fast, and the playground was big enough for my mom and dad to climb around with me. Although all the activities were really fun, I just couldn’t drag myself out of the playground, but that could be because you literally got lost once you got in there and the only way out was down a slide…wheeee!
We wound down the day with lunch at our favorite hamburger spot…CheeBurger CheeBurger. Not only are the hamburgers awesome, but the kids meals come in paper cars. If you haven’t tried it, it’s a must have!

Where a Kid Can Be a Kid!
It’s official, I’m a Basner, I love skeeball. My parents finally decided that I was old enough to visit Chuck E. Cheese. I had no clue what I was in for, but the minute we walked in, I was digging this place. There were rides everywhere and games that only cost one token; quite a bargain if you ask my parents! We met up with Josh and explored every ride and game that we could in two hours. The rides were okay, but I loved skeeball. Although a ball never made it to the holes, I had the best time throwing them. I also got to play basketball which was really fun. Needless to say I was dragged out of Chuck E. Cheese kicking and screaming…its motto definitely fits my lifestyle! When can we go back?

Shot Through the Heart
Today marked a big day in the calendar for me! I had my last vaccine until I turn 2! Now that does not go without saying that I didn’t scream or have to be dragged into the room to get my MMR shot, but it’s over and done with, THANK GOD! My favorite nurse wasn’t working today so of course the one that has been with me the last few times, and knows that I hate this one particular room, decides that it would be a good idea to put me in that room; I’m sure you can see why she’s not my favorite.

On Saturday we woke up and dyed Easter eggs and I got my first present, a picnic table. My parents thought I would be more excited about this but I wasn't. However it is a nice little table where I can sit and enjoy my snacks and color outside. With regard to the Easter eggs, my Grandma and Grandpa Basner got me an Elmo Easter Egg kit which had tons of stickers. So with the weather being so nice I sat outside at my table and decorated my eggs with the stickers; this was by far my favorite part. It was such a nice day, we decided that we would meet up with Josh in the late afternoon in Long Branch for dinner and a walk on the boardwalk. It was in the 70s when we left New Brunswick, but by the time we reached Long Branch the temperature had dropped 30 degrees and was very windy. So dinner and the boardwalk in Long Branch were traded for the park and dinner in Red Bank. I even went down the big slide by myself!
Sunday was extremely busy from the moment I woke up. I immediately went searching for my Easter Basket which held several goodies. I then got dressed in my finest duds and headed out the door around 7:30. We needed to make it to Ellen’s for church by 8:30. I did pretty well in church with the help of my Easter Basket. What was in my Easter Basket you ask? There were trains, planes and automobiles…okay there wasn’t any planes but you get the picture, oh and there was a lot of snacks to keep me entertained. I even got some treats courtesy of Ellen’s church. After church it was back to Ellen’s for brunch. We had a nice breakfast followed by some play time before we were out the door and headed to Josh’s for an Easter Egg Hunt like no other. We arrived just in time to hunt for over 100 eggs. I was very interested in finding eggs, but out of the corner of my eye I spied a Barbie Jeep that was calling my name. How can eggs compete when I had the opportunity to drive a car? So while all the other kids were collecting eggs, I was driving the car. Eventually Josh joined me and we went cruising for chicks. I had such a great time playing with all the kids in the bouncy house and driving the Jeep that I was exhausted by the time we got home. A long day filled with lots of candy and good times!
