OH MY! What a weekend we had and what a way to celebrate Easter. This weekend started on Friday with NO SCHOOL! You heard me right; we did not have school because of Good Friday. This allowed me to play legal hooky and head over to New Brunswick with my friend Gavin. All week my mommy kept telling me we were going to see the red monster...Elmo! By Friday I was pretty excited and could not wait. We had great seats so when the show started it I had a great view of Big Bird and Elmo talking to each other. But next thing you know, the curtain opened and I just freaked out, and not in a good way. There was a ton of monsters (life size) standing on the stage which caused me to have a brief breakdown. Actually brief would be an inadequate description. We actually had to head to the back of the theater so that I could calm down. When we headed back up to our seats it took me a minute to realize that this was really cool. I made it through about an hour of the show before I fell asleep. After the show we went to lunch with Gavin and his mommy at Tumulty's.
On Saturday we woke up and dyed Easter eggs and I got my first present, a picnic table. My parents thought I would be more excited about this but I wasn't. However it is a nice little table where I can sit and enjoy my snacks and color outside. With regard to the Easter eggs, my Grandma and Grandpa Basner got me an Elmo Easter Egg kit which had tons of stickers. So with the weather being so nice I sat outside at my table and decorated my eggs with the stickers; this was by far my favorite part. It was such a nice day, we decided that we would meet up with Josh in the late afternoon in Long Branch for dinner and a walk on the boardwalk. It was in the 70s when we left New Brunswick, but by the time we reached Long Branch the temperature had dropped 30 degrees and was very windy. So dinner and the boardwalk in Long Branch were traded for the park and dinner in Red Bank. I even went down the big slide by myself!
Sunday was extremely busy from the moment I woke up. I immediately went searching for my Easter Basket which held several goodies. I then got dressed in my finest duds and headed out the door around 7:30. We needed to make it to Ellen’s for church by 8:30. I did pretty well in church with the help of my Easter Basket. What was in my Easter Basket you ask? There were trains, planes and automobiles…okay there wasn’t any planes but you get the picture, oh and there was a lot of snacks to keep me entertained. I even got some treats courtesy of Ellen’s church. After church it was back to Ellen’s for brunch. We had a nice breakfast followed by some play time before we were out the door and headed to Josh’s for an Easter Egg Hunt like no other. We arrived just in time to hunt for over 100 eggs. I was very interested in finding eggs, but out of the corner of my eye I spied a Barbie Jeep that was calling my name. How can eggs compete when I had the opportunity to drive a car? So while all the other kids were collecting eggs, I was driving the car. Eventually Josh joined me and we went cruising for chicks. I had such a great time playing with all the kids in the bouncy house and driving the Jeep that I was exhausted by the time we got home. A long day filled with lots of candy and good times!
